Spiritual Nutrition: Six Foundations for Spiritual Life and the Awakening of Kundalini

This recently added to my library.  And I’m glad I did.

When we eat, can we feed the soul as well as the body? Can a diet have an impact on spirituality? Spiritual Nutrition empowers readers to develop personal diets that are appropriate to their lifestyles and spiritual practices. Drawing on 14 years of clinical experience and research, Dr. Gabriel Cousens discusses nutritional issues that can help answer these questions, including raw vs. cooked food; high vs. low protein; the concepts of assimilation and fasting; alkaline–acid balance; attitudes about food; nutrients, energy, and structure building.

In addition, Cousens shares his new dietary system of “spiritual nutrition” that is based on the relationship that the color of the food has to corresponding colors of the human chakra system, hence, the “rainbow diet.” For true nourishment, he strongly promotes the connection of diet to meditation, fellowship, wisdom, and love.

Gabriel Cousens is the author of seven internationally acclaimed books including Spiritual Nutrition and Creating Peace by Being Peace. Known worldwide as a spiritual teacher and the leading expert in live, plant-source nutrition, Dr. Cousens functions as a holistic physician, psychiatrist, family therapist, and cutting edge researcher on healing diabetes naturally.

He holds an M.D. from Columbia Medical School, a doctorate in homeopathy, and diplomas in Ayurveda, clinical acupuncture, and holistic medicine. His multi-cultural background as an ordained rabbi, an acknowledged yogi, and a four-year Native American sundancer, adds insight to his “whole-person enlightenment” teachings.

Dr. Cousens is the founder and director of the Tree of Life Foundation and the Tree of Life Rejuvenation Center, an innovative holistic retreat center for the renewal of body, mind, and spirit, based in Patagonia, Arizona. In his book, There Is A Cure For Diabetes, Dr. Cousens presents his rejuvenation center’s program for reversing diabetes naturally.

Vitamin D and Immunity

Vitamin D has in recent times come under greater scrutiny for its role in immunity.    And it appears that the role has even greater connotations that previously thought. According to peer-reviewed published articles of US NAtional Library of MEdicine, without vitamin D we are at an increased risk of developing a host of infections when serum levels are not at par.

All vitamins play a huge part in helping us maintain homeostasis and subsequent health. Their specific roles are in a constant state of evolution and more and more research is being done and a plethora of new information comes to light.

In the age of “the virus” and many other bugs that seeks to injure us, our immune system is called upon to soldier up and defend its home. Information is constantly being passed down through various sources referencing the use of vitamins, more recently, vitamins C, D and zinc.

We know from past teachings that these vitamins play a pivotal role in boosting our immune systems an

Self Healing through Reiki — Awakening Journey

Since beginning my Reiki private practice, I have been performing self Reiki to make sure that I incorporate self care into my practice.  Usui Mikao, the founder of Reiki died of a stroke four years after his awakening on Mt. Kurama which manifested his ability to heal with his hands.  Subsequently, he created the current day, Reiki practice and taught it to many students, as well as healing four or five clients at the same time during these four years.  However, I believed that he was not diligent in self care that may have resulted in his death through a stroke. His story is a life lesson for all Reiki practitioners.

I have been providing Reiki therapy for my twin flame who has the same emotional and physical issues as me.  Therefore, after treating him, I would treat myself on the same issues.  Since performing self Reiki, many fears and buried emotions have come to the surface.  I have been experiencing nightmares regularly, disrupting my sleep nightly.  They deal mainly with self doubt, fears of failure, and fears of the unknown.  In these dreams, I do not feel at peace, and feel agitated, and unsettled.

My #1 Wellness Practice —

I have learned throughout my health and wellness practice that I truly needed to shift my mindset! The “Golden Rule”. “Treat others how you want to be treated.” You really need to take care of you before you can take care of others!

Are you truly doing it for you too?

That is a big question to ask yourself that really matters! Know your “why(s)”. When you tune into doing as an act of self love you are tapping into your desires and passions. That you deserve this and remove that doubt, self-limiting beliefs, guilt, etc. You make that commitment to yourself and make yourself accountable too!

You truly have the ability to achieve your “why(s)”! When you are able to relax your whole being you help yourself connect to your whole being better. You communicate to fully connect and engage. That level of communication and that deep connection you have with yourself helps you get back to the basics in what you need and achieving your whys!

That relaxed state also helps you slow down and maybe even get some good rest too! When relaxed you are more mindful and present. You take yourself out of stress as well as survival mode. Just taking time to pause and just breathe and clear the mind is a big assist to your whole well being!

I am finally out of that mindset that I need to spend hours getting my fitness on! Long as well as extreme workouts were not sustainable for me. I burnt out and had minor repetitive injuries that were becoming chronic. Start small and little by little it will add up!

I have been giving myself more grace, patience and compassion lately! For instance there are times I want to get up and get a workout in on the weekends. Then there are times where I want to sleep in, take my time and get in a later workout. Balance matters!

Another big mind blower is TO DO WHAT YOU LOVE! Your wellness practice needs to motivate and drive you. Not bore you and become a chore. Think outside the box and try new things

5 Simple Ideas To Boost Your Wellness

1 . Write A Journal

Writing in a journal is a largely therapeutic pastime, it’s creative, reflective and a very worthy act of self care. You might like to use a journal to write down your cherished memories and experiences? Perhaps you’d prefer to brainstorm your career and personal goals?  Some people like to use a journal to write down their feelings during times of emotional stress. It’s nice to have a place just for you, to write down your uncensored thoughts in complete honesty.

2. Experimental Cooking

Always feel like you’re cooking the same old dishes? Why not get experimental, buy some new recipe books and set yourself some new cooking challenges. You could challenge yourself to cook dishes from around the world, choosing a cuisine from a new country each week. If you’re a meat-eater, you could learn how to cook some tasty new vegetarian dishes. Fancy yourself as a bit of a baking whizz? Why not attempt some

5 Benefits of Starting Yoga

Stretching

After a week spent sitting at a desk, literally my favourite thing is being able to properly stretch muscles and limbs while focusing on alignment. I feel my joints working for the first time in a week and my muscles get that really pleasant ache when you’ve worked them. It would be worth it just for the warm-up’s and cool down’s.

Physical activity

The type of yoga I do is far gentler than my gym sessions. But, as mentioned, you ache – you’re working your body in a softer way than pounding out 5k on the treadmill, challenging the muscles to loosen and stretch rather than making your heart race. It’s not about speed or strength, it’s about checking in with how you are feeling that day and how far you want to push yourself each week.

Pushing yourself

I am not flexible. My balance isn’t great. I have limited core strength (I’m working on it, people!). But by adding to the routine each week, I can see if yes, I do want to drop my hand low
